My First Blog Post
It's official, I have a blog and I know how to use it.
I have finally decided to take the plunge and add a blog to my site. I always wanted an easy way to share information with visitors and I'm super excited to start this journey. Keep coming back to my site and check for updates right here on the blog.
Ever thought it would be a good idea to redecorate your home all on your own with no professional help? Or even some kind of small DIY project for starters.
Well I've done more DIY than I care to remember. I believe there's nothing more satisfying than looking at the work you have done and knowing ,even after all the hiccups and stress it can sometimes bring, you've done a better job than some "Professionals " out there.
You must be positive from the start and nowadays You Tube can be your best friend!
I had the best teacher of DIY in my Dad.He could turn his hand to any job needing doing.I would watch him when I was little and he would encourage and show me how to use power tools, hand tools and any DIY tools and together we'd get the job done.
Everyone I know used to do their own wallpapering and painting probably due to the fact money was the issue and you learned on the job.Its very satisfying doing some paperhanging then standing back and seeing what a difference you've made to your home. It gives you a sense of achievement and you feel so clever that you want to do more.
If you find a small Hardware shop/DIY place they can help you with all kinds tips and little tools to make the job easier.
Over the years I've tackled some quite large projects when I think about it,but at the time i was just wanting results and never saw problems only solutions. If you think of what may go wrong you would never start the job in the first place!
The most satisfying job I have done to date is my Bathroom.Out with the bath and in with a large walk in shower with large drench shower head and a smaller diverter handset. Every morning I still look at it and think "What a great job ".
I must have saved myself thousands of pounds in the past by DIYing. Now I'm passing on these skills to my Son and daughter and trying to teach them how to tile and hang wallpaper too. Its good to know they can be self sufficient and want to learn!
Anyway dont let the grass grow under your feet start with something small like painting a small bit of furniture and giving it a new lease of life. Its inexpensive and the result is very satisfying and if its an old piece of you own your saving pennies to spend on other things like holidays :)
